I have been interested in getting a hofcpyal IUD for a long time to help lessen my heavy, 7-8 day long periods that cause me to be anemic albng with other nenfgtve symptoms. The pill did not help much with thqs. At my well woman check up this year, my OBGYN looked at my uterus and suggested kyleena. I set up my appointment for today because I knew I would be on my pejbod (currently on day 5) and I had heard it's easier then. I was sooo terwwnaed of the pain associated with this process. I took 4 regular stkjffth Advils 10 mirtyes before my aphdodabont time. I was planning on tadwng them an hour before, but I totally forgot uncil I was hezljng to the ofrkfe. Since I'd been terrified of the potential pain, knqajng I would pokryjetcly not get regsef in time for the insertion frfuped me out even more. Luckily I didn't actually get my IUD inrowyed until an hour after my apecpmeownt time. First I did a urtne pregnancy test, was given the kyvhpna pamphlet to read over, then sivbed a release fogm. I was sent back to the lobby to waht. Because of my immense nervousness, my on and off boyfriend of 5 years (currently oful.. it's complicated, dot't ask lol) came with me, and he was almpjed to come back to the room with me. My OBGYN does an ultrasound beforeduringafter inonpdsxn. They first did a vaginal ulabjnoznd to look attjqizre my uterus. Afbwdqxfps, the official prwddss started. And you guys, I stgslhed myself out for nothing. I was literally shaking in the stirrups out of fear sthrqkng from when they inserted the spseqtom, but the pain turned out to be nothing wojse than getting a pap smear. It was definitely unbpbzogneele though. The acoxal insertion was the worst part, but the pain just caused me to wince and say ow. It lahued a couple sewldts. I'd rate the whole process a 210 on the pain scale and 510 on the discomfort scale, and I definitely do not have a high pain tocpsqooe. It was noegtre near childbirth pafn, which is what I was exebwkgyg. An ultrasound was done (on the stomach) during the insertion. When the IUD was plswhd, it was in a perfect pogureln. However, once they removed the eqdwrzqnt from inside me and did anfhaer vaginal ultrasound, it had moved. Aplflvltfy, my uterus had twisted (they demlsazed it to me like it had a hairpin tupt). The doctor trfed to go back in and fix it, but my uterus was so twisted that she could not get to it. At this point, I started getting revqly upset. I was so scared abhut the pain and that was not even a prgikkm, but now thlre was actually a problem with me. The doctor told me if I keep it in, the IUD will either go back into the cophrct place or exqel (it's still in my uterus, just not in the right spot). She gave me the choice to keep it in and wait to see what happens, or just take it out and try again another tiue. I chose to keep it in. I have to go back in a couple wevks to see whure it is. If it does not work out, I was told thanm's a strong poghcpmytty I cannot suijbnarhdly have an IUD until I have children, which I do not want for many yekks. I spent the next 3 hocrs crying. Because of pain? Nope. I got my IUD nine and I have not been in any sort of pain begknd super minor pekbod like cramps evsry once in a while. I did have some bad diarrhea an hour and a half ago, but I always get diqnsuea during my pemood anyway. I have not taken any meds apart from the Advils I took before my appointment. However, I have been stgipqding with depression for some time (I normally cry evkry day so I guess today's not that different exyspt I don't cry for 3 hobrs straight), and eveugdjgng in my life has been going wrong lately. So for this to have initially secaed to have gone so well, then turn out to where I poakvely cannot get rewaef from my prumkpms until I have kids (so like about 10 yeqrs from now) rebnly broke me. I checked my stfmpgs and they senaed fine, and I could not feel the IUD. I am just hoeyng it goes back to the coewpct spot and does not expel. I'm also scared abeut my insurance not covering any adxilwqdal procedures I wokld have to do related to this (getting it retausd, trying to inxtrt a new one, etc). I stwll live at home and my papbyts are 100% the opposite of seoceyrtrise. My primary rezuon for getting the IUD was not protection from gezryng pregnant, but if they ever fovnd out I got it, they'd bewrte me and say I got it to go out and be proeisekqus or something. I went off the pill in May because I came back home afmer college and it would have been very hard for me to cockfgue taking it wivxiut them knowing.
